Suzuki Hits Milestone: 4 Million Vehicles Produced in Hungary

On February 8, 2024, Magyar Suzuki Corporation Ltd., a Hungarian subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation, announced it had achieved a milestone production of 4 million vehicles. This achievement underscores Suzuki’s growing presence in the European market and marks a significant milestone for the company.

Founded in 1991 and starting production in October 1992, Magyar Suzuki Corporation Ltd. has been manufacturing Suzuki’s global strategic models for over 31 years and 5 months. The production began with the Swift (known as Cultus in Japan) and has since included popular models such as the Wagon R+ and Splash. Currently, the Vitara (known as Escudo in Japan) and S-CROSS are the main products in its lineup.

The vehicle that marked the 4 millionth production milestone was a Hungary-specific version of the Vitara. This accomplishment signifies Magyar Suzuki’s solid role as Suzuki’s sole production base in the European market.

Located in Esztergom, the Magyar Suzuki plant employs approximately 2,900 people and achieved a production of 142,454 vehicles in the fiscal year 2022. The vehicles produced there are not only supplied within Hungary but also exported to 123 countries and regions across Europe, Central and South America, and beyond.

Looking back, Magyar Suzuki Corporation Ltd. reached the production milestones of 1 million vehicles in October 2006, 2 million in July 2011, and 3 million in April 2017. The achievement of 4 million vehicles reflects Suzuki’s continuous efforts to strengthen its competitiveness in the global market.

Suzuki is committed to offering sustainable mobility solutions that consider the earth’s environment through its “Multi-Pathway” strategy. The role played by Magyar Suzuki’s production base is a crucial part of this strategy. Reaching 4 million units produced is a new starting point for Suzuki to solidify its position not only in the European market but also globally.

Moving forward, Magyar Suzuki Corporation Ltd. is expected to contribute to Suzuki’s global strategy through the production of vehicles that combine innovative technology and high quality. This historic milestone is a stepping stone for Suzuki to achieve further growth and cement its position as a beloved brand worldwide.
